Compensation/ Benefits

On-Campus Housing: Live right where the action is! You’ll have the convenience of living close to everything you need on campus. Additionally, you room costs will be covered!
Meal Plan Benefits:
- Miramar Residents: Receive $800 toward a meal plan.
- Momentum Village Residents: Choose between $800 to go towards a meal plan or dining dollars.
$1000 Stipend: First-year RA's will also receive a $1000 stipend for the year, paid monthly ($100 per month). This stipend will grow every year that you remain an RA, so make plans now to drop your anchor and stay with us for a while!

Eligibility

The desire to become a student leader on campus and positively affect the residential experience of Islanders
Maintain a TAMU-CC minimum 2.5 GPA
Must live on-site at either Miramar or Momentum
Be in good standing with the university. (Student Conduct)
Successfully pass a standardized background test

What is Expected of a Resident Assistant?

The Resident Assistant (RA) is a member of the Department of Islander Housing within the Division of Student Engagement and Success. The Residence Life staff's goals include building welcoming communities that focus on learning, leadership and meaningful relationships through the development of our students and staff. Islander Housing Staff are committed to promoting holistic student success by providing excellent on-campus housing experience, impactful student engagement, and developmental student support. RAs help create these welcoming communities through individualized engagements, intentional programming, and prioritizing safety for residents. This is a generalized description of responsibilities that an RA may encounter, position responsibilities may change department discretion.

RAs will help foster community by developing or directing students to programs that promote engagement and connection.
RAs are expected to build relationships with their assigned residents. RAs may have up to 100 residents in their area depending on RA assignment.
RAs will be required to live on-campus in the assigned unit to build community with their residents.

RAs will work at their respective property desk, Miramar or Momentum Village, during their respective on-call shift. RAs may be asked to work cross property desk if staffing is needed.
Momentum Village only: RAs may be asked to assist with logging packages and sorting mail for residents during their respective on-call desk shift.
RAs will serve in an on-call rotation within their area, up to 1700 residents, and act at the first line of contact with student concerns.
On-call requirements include maneuvering up and down 3 or more flights of stairs at least twice during each on-call shift. Job duties will require the ability to climb stairs, see, talk, hear, and travel around assigned buildings.
RAs will be required to work 2 office hours and 2 desk hours during the business day.

All RAs rooming and resident assignments will be selected based on the needs of the student population and RA personality. All RAs may be asked their preference, but will be placed based on need, not want.
RAs will serve as a resource agent for their residents and help refer students to campus resource partners should the student need them.
RAs are expected to abide by and enforce the TAMU-CC Student Code of Conduct, Islander Housing handbook, and departmental policies and procedures.
RAs will help mediate conflict between roommates, suite mates, neighbors, and within the community.
RAs will attend weekly staff meetings and bi-weekly 1:1s with supervisors to discuss updated Islander Housing information, job performance, and personal staff development. Area staff meeting will take place Mondays at 8:30 p.m.
RAs will assist with move-ins and move-outs throughout the academic year as directed by Islander Housing
RAs will attend training at the beginning of each semester while employed to learn about the most updated Islander Housing practices and procedures.
RAs will report for work the day indicated by their RA contract and remain until the indicated release date. Staff should not anticipate leaving their position prior to the official hall closing date and time.
Hired individuals must provide proof of identity, employment eligibility, and pass a background check.
RAs may need to complete other tasks as needed or directed by Islander Housing Professional Staff members.
