TAMU-CC College of Business Reaffirms Accreditation from AACSB
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The College of Business (COB) at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi has earned reaffirmation of accreditation for both business and accounting from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB).
The accreditation process involves a multiyear assessment and thorough external review of the college’s mission, strategic plan, curricula, student and faculty engagement, and impact on society. Schools work with an AACSB mentor and a peer-review team to ensure alignment with AACSB’s accreditation standards.
“I am deeply grateful to everyone in our college, at TAMU-CC, and from AACSB whose dedication and commitment to excellence helped us achieve re-affirmation of both our business and accounting accreditations,” said Dr. Brian Tietje, COB Dean. “Our outstanding faculty, staff, students, and alumni are deserving of the recognition for excellence that we can celebrate with this accomplishment.”
Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting. AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education and has been earned by less than 6% of the world’s business programs, with just over 1% maintaining the additional supplemental AACSB accreditation for their accounting programs. There are approximately 1,020 business schools in over 65 countries and territories that maintain AACSB accreditation, of which 194 institutions also maintain the supplemental accounting AACSB accreditation.

Bryant, AACSB Executive Vice President and Chief Accreditation Officer. “The commitment to earning accreditation is a true reflection of a school’s dedication — not only to their students, alumni network, and greater business community, but to the higher education industry as a whole. This affirmation of accreditation marks the COB’s 25th anniversary since the initial business accreditation and 15th anniversary of the supplemental accounting accreditation. TAMU-CC was founded in 1947 and joined the prestigious Texas A&M University System in 1989, evolving into a four-year institution in 1994. Dr. Moustafa Abdelsamad, COB Dean at that time, quickly initiated the rigorous multiyear process to obtain AACSB accreditation, which was achieved in 1999. Ten years later, Abdelsamad again successfully lead the college through obtainment of AACSB’s supplemental accounting accreditation.
